As Christians, making friends and having fellowship with other believers is important for our spiritual growth. We are called to share the Gospel, to love, enourage, admonish and speak the truth to one another everyday.

Dr. David Powlison edits The Journal of Biblical Counseling, is a counselor and faculty member at CCEF, and teaches Practical Theology at Westminster Theological Seminary. He has written Speaking Truth in Love, Seeing with New Eyes: Counseling and the Human Condition Through the Lens of Scripture, Power Encounters: Reclaiming Spiritual Warfare, Competent to Counsel?: The History of a Conservative Protestant Biblical Counseling Movement, and numerous articles on counseling. David and his wife, Nan, have a son and two daughters.

Justin Taylor received permission from P&R to post excerpts from David Powlison’s essay, “I Am Motivated When I Feel Desire,” from his book, Seeing With New Eyes: Counseling and the Human Condition Through the Lens of Scripture. Powlison does a helpful Q&A on the concept of “the lusts of the flesh.” Here is the first of fifteen questions. I’d encourage a careful reading and meditation upon these biblical, transforming concepts.:

Lou Priolo is the Director of Biblical Counseling at Eastwood Presbyterian Church in Montgomery, Alabama. He is a graduate of Calvary Bible College and Liberty University. He is a noted lecturer and currently is director of Biblical Counseling at Eastwood Presbyterian Church, where he also serves as a ruling elder. He is an instructor at Birmingham Theological Seminary in Birmingtham, Ala. He is a fellow in the National Association of Nouthetic Counselors, and a section editor for the Journal of Modern Ministry. He and his wife, Kim, and their two daughters, Sophia and Gabriella, live in Wetumpka, Ala.

    Don Whitney has been Associate Professor of Biblical Spirituality and Senior Associate Dean at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, since 2005. Before that, he held a similar position (the first such position in the six Southern Baptist seminaries) at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri, for ten years. He is the founder and president of The Center for Biblical Spirituality.

    Don lives with his wife Caffy in their home near Louisville. She regularly teaches a class for seminary wives, works from their home as an artist, muralist, and illustrator and enjoys gardening and beekeeping. The Whitneys are parents of a daughter, Laurelen Christiana.

He is the founder and chairman of Ligonier Ministries, which started as the Ligonier Valley Study Center in Ligonier, Pennsylvania, more than thirty years ago. In an effort to respond more effectively to the growing demand for Dr. Sproul’s teachings and Ligonier’s other educational resources, the general offices were moved to Orlando, Florida, in 1984, and the ministry was renamed “Ligonier Ministries.”

    Dr. R.C. Sproul is featured daily on Renewing Your Mind, an international radio broadcast that has aired for more than ten years with an estimated two million people tuning in every week on more than 235 radio outlets in the United States and throughout more than 40 countries. Dr. Sproul is a respected teacher, theologian, and pastor.     Dr. J. Ligon Duncan III, a native of Greenville, South Carolina, was born and reared in the home of an eighth generation Southern Presbyterian Ruling Elder. A 1983 graduate of Furman University, he received an MDiv from Covenant Theological Seminary and studied Systematic Theology at the Free Church of Scotland College under Professor Donald Macleod. He earned the PhD from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1995. He is the senior minister of First Presbyterian Church in Jackson, Mississippi, a prominent congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). He is also the Chairman of the Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood and is president and chair of the Council of the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals. In 2004, he served as Moderator of the General Assembly of the PCA, the youngest moderator ever elected.

He was formerly the Pastoral Direction at Evangelical Movement of Wales as well as a former lecturer in preaching at the Evangelical Theological College of Wales, Bryntirion, Bridgend.     Dr. Joel R. Beeke serves as President and Professor of Systematic Theology and Homiletics, as well as Academic Dean for students from the Heritage Reformed Congregations. He is currently a pastor of the Heritage Reformed Congregation in Grand Rapids, Michigan, a position he has held for 20 years. He has been in the ministry for 28 years. He is also editor of the Banner of Sovereign Grace Truth, editorial director of Reformation Heritage Books, president of Inheritance Publishers, and vice-president of the Dutch Reformed Translation Society. He has written, co-authored, or edited fifty books and contributed over fifteen hundred articles to Reformed books, journals, periodicals, and encyclopedias. His Ph.D. (1988) from Westminster Theological Seminary is in Reformation and Post-Reformation Theology. He is frequently called upon to lecture at Reformed seminaries and to speak at conferences around the world. He and his wife, Mary, have 3 children: Calvin, Esther, and Lydia.

      Joel Beeke Marrow of Reformed Theology was the 1st sermon u passed to me. Good intro to reformed theology, kinda of long also.

      Just add a new sermon “Asking for the Holy Spirit” Without the help from the Holy Spirit we can do nothing !
